Nuevos desarrollos en economía internacional Resumen de las principales cuestiones tratadas en el «XIII Workshop in International Economics 2024»

Resumen

En este artículo se resumen los últimos desarrollos en el ámbito de la economía internacional presentados en el XIII Workshop in International Economics 2024 a través de un total de nueve ponencias de profesores e investigadores de las principales universidades americanas. Las sesiones, en interacción con los participantes, han tenido como nexo común los principales retos a los que se enfrenta la economía en un mundo globalizado pospandemia: la necesidad de una mayor autonomía estratégica industrial, el proceso de transición energética y la interacción de los comportamientos sociales sobre la economía. Las ponencias han tratado cuestiones como el impacto de la política industrial en el desarrollo económico, la complejidad económica y la interdependencia de las cadenas globales de valor, la función aceleradora del desarrollo derivada del comercio internacional y la importancia que tiene la tecnología. Otros aspectos novedosos han sido las líneas de investigación sobre la economía urbana y sobre economía social, en concreto, los sesgos vinculados al cumplimiento de los criterios ESG, las cuestiones de equidad en las políticas fiscales, el impacto de las ideologías de suma cero y las implicaciones de la introducción de nuevos métodos de pago y criptomonedas. El uso de nuevas técnicas, como la modelización con big data y las encuestas, ha sido un elemento destacado en estos nuevos desarrollos de la ciencia económica.
